Log

Example 1: Side Log for Pages with Five Columns or Fewer

What It Is

A log (also known as a legened) provides a visual indication of which step in an ordered sequence a user is currently on.

When to Use

Logs are ideally suited for wizard type pages, where the user must move through a linear sequence of steps in a predefined order.

Fireman's Fund Usage Guidelines

The following guidelines should be followed when working with the Log pattern:

  • When working with five column or fewer page layouts, the log must always appear at the right side of the application page (for more information, refer to the Add Side Log to Single Nav Page and Add Side Log to Multi Nav Page editing topics).
  • When working with six column layouts, the log must always appear at the top of the application page, just below the header or top navigation elements (for more information, refer to the Add Top Log to Single Nav Page and Add Side Log to Multi Nav Page editing topics).
  • Update the anchor elements hrefs and labels as appropriate for the context of your application.
  • Add additional list item (li) elements as needed for your application context.
